JEGŁOWA is situated 12 km from the City of Strzelin. It is an open pit Quartzite Slate quarry with a processing plant on-site. Diggin began in 1854 with the first use case being grinding tools production. After some time the material's fire resistant properties were discovered. 
Nowadays the facility manufactures decorative elements for gardening and construction.
Quartzite Slate is characterized by its unique color, from white through silver to pink-red-yellow. The Quartzite Slate from Jegłowa is a world unique Old Paleozoic geological formation - a fine-crystalline rock with a layered texture.
It is the only known deposit of this type in Europe.
